Jon and I had some fun and recorded this video for you all. We’ve taken the concept that Everything is a Spell and paired it with the astrology of the moment and our Smash the Patriarchy Potatoes recipe. Please enjoy the video. You’ll find the recipe written out below as well.
Smash the Patriarchy Potatoes — Recipe
Get yourself a passel of potatoes (I prefer Yukon Golds)
Scrub ’em, keep them in their skins, and keep them whole
Put them in a pot of salted water
Bring to a boil and then simmer for about 20–30 minutes until fork tender — you want them nice and soft
While the potatoes are simmering make your garlic butter
Gently melt a 1/2 lb (or however much you want) of butter or vegan butter
While your butter is melting mince up a whole head of garlic
Add minced garlic to the melted butter and simmer on low for about 20 minutes— you want it just barely bubbling so your garlic gets soft and golden
Preheat your oven to 400
Drain your potatoes and let them cool just a bit
Place them on a parchment paper covered cookie sheet, spacing them apart
Take a glass or a mug and gently push down on each potato, flattening them to anywhere from 1/2" to 1"
Drizzle some extra virgin olive oil on top
Sprinkle them with sea salt
Spoon some garlic butter on each
Bake for 20–30 minutes until crispy and just browning around the edges
Yum!
