I read Kimberly Rivers' online "Ojai Valley News"article about Interim City Manager Mark Scott leaving the Closed Session meeting, then early the next day, terminating his position with the City of Ojai. I don't have Rivers' article readily at hand. Do you recall if she stated that Scott, at the meeting, was unable to any longer stand the discord, and/or if she stated he resigned at the meeting? If so, how would Rivers' know this without it being leaked? If it was so, do you know if that would have been a violation of the "Brown Act"?
That language may have been in the City Manger's email resignation letter that he sent to the City after he left the November 13th Closed Session meeting, but I still suspect that somebody leaked to Kimberly Rivers that he stated at the meeting he would be resigning. This morning, I fetched my edition of today's Ojai Valley News from the end of my driveway. Here's the very first sentence in the front page, Rivers-written article about the City Manager resigning: "During the Ojai City Council's Nov. 13 special closed-session meeting, Interim City Manager Mark Scott told the council he would be resigning and left during the meeting." How would Rivers be aware of Mr. Scott telling the Council, during the meeting, he would be resigning? Somebody at that meeting must have informed Rivers of such. If so, I would think that would be a clear violation of the "Brown Act". If somebody at that meeting was responsible for that leak, what else might they have leaked that transpired during the meeting? NOT GOOD! Am I missing something? I hope I am so............because leaking information could easily lead to more disharmony and discord.
Hi Nora, just thought of something; are you aware of the laws governing the rights of renters? In LA the owner must give you a bunch of money if they want you to move when you have been keeping up your terms of the contract; how much they need to pay you depends on various things but seeing a lawyer or pro bono real estate lawyer, public service etc, might be very helpful. As a renter you have legal rights
Can't wait to read the entire story here. Tonight we are with our widower friend staying at our house, helping him write a short thing for his deceased husband's "prayer" card. I'm in the bathroom peeing and reading your peace and I just got inspired by your first 3 paragraphs!
I'll really comment later tonight but already thank you.
I remember being on a Thich Nhat Hanh retreat when he said, " you Americans find peace boring." Probably true? Bravo for you all that are engaged in positive change, demonstrating peaceful and authentically painful feelings for doing so.
