I am glad you are enjoying the area so much! And that your dogs are too. It is nice to read about your nature discoveries and how much you all are finding and loving it. I need to see and hear this since I tend to be very unhappy with the nature here. I can't find real hiking trails here nor mountains or real woods etc and I tend to just stay in since I can't have what I really love. I have walked in some of the Lake county areas but all are paved or gravel and flat with no mountains or no real true woods. But I need to enjoy what is here more and your wanderings are showing me that. Thanks! I love seeing the birds. I have feeders and have lots of photos of the cardinals that visit. I love them and the blue jays. I have several cardinal families and love seeing how they watch out for each other. With the male or female eating while the other watches close by and then they switch. Super sweet!

I have missed your political posts so I know I will be glad once you get back into that again. :)

I am okay today, headache is getting bad so I am off the computer for awhile. Looking forward to your call this week. I will miss some I think because of a doctor appointment but plan to get on as soon as I get in the car from it. I definitely have to get some of that tasty vegan food you are finding too! Yum! Sending love!

Love right back to you.

Yes, I am definitely choosing to love what's here without bypassing missing California at times (although the missing is very infrequent right now. I am interested to see if this changes).

I did notice that I was missing Chicago a bit right before we found out we needed to move.

See you Thursday!

Your story of moving back "home" is so very mythological (says the mythologist...). It's the carrying back to the overworld the treasure brought up from the underworld/liminal. It's an ancient tradition that goes back, of course,, to some of the earliest written language in Descent to the Goddess, and best known in the Demeter/Persephone myth. We go, we collect what we need, and what we're called to bring back to the world, and then we must leave, and like Lot, resist the temptation to live life looking back over our shoulder into the past.

The mistake we often make is that we're not meant to stay in the liminal/underworld, even if it's beautiful and transcendent and we're in love with it. I learned that the hard way when I tried to stay in Santa Fe after my liminal time there. ANd I"m learning it again here in Maine, where I longed for the liminal of an isolated cabin in the woods without undrestanding that it was a descent into the underworld to bring back treasure, and not intended as a permanent lifestyle. So now I work to bring the treasure I've gained up into the overworld again, first in the form of my writing on The Abbey and The Red Abbess, but soon, probably, in the form of moving back to some kind of community, making trips back into the underworld as needed to gather more treasure.

Anyway, I'm so glad you all are thriving. Sending love and light. <3

Thank you, Faith!

I absolutely love your mythical interpretation of our journey, and I have had these thoughts as well. In fact, I am having déjà vu as I am writing this to you.

Love and light right back to you and wishes for joy on your path, wherever it takes you.

Reading all your Chicago stories, especially all the delicious vegan food and nature, is making me want to visit Chicago again, something I haven’t desired in years and years. It actually feels like it’s doing some healing in my system too to live vicariously through your renewed relationship with it. So thank you, as always, for sharing 🙏🏼

I was feeling really good most of late last week and then something the last few days has been brewing inside. I’m on my bleed, so I think that’s part of it. Been feeling a lot of grumpiness and sadness today. Also a lot of body image stuff coming up for me right now. Feeling all the layers of shame and disgust ingrained from a young age. How ugly and undesirable I’ve felt in my body at some level for a long time.

I’m still in a quiet life phase. Just finished a book called The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd and I absolutely ADORED it… highly recommend if anyone is looking for a great next read.

Not sure I’ll make it to the call this week or not. Happy Solstice to everyone if not! ✨💙

Ohhh, I just remembered I also started an herbal parasite cleanse today, so I have a feeling that’s responsible for a lot of the crankiness I’ve been in this afternoon. Harumph, lol 😂

Ah great blue heron! I still remember the first time I saw one as a child in my backyard in Canada, it was huge and awe inspiring! I am told they represent the spirit of God. Most certainly a blessing to cross your path.

I have started knitting again and it’s been good for my brain and mental health. I’m kind of addicted, in a good way, and think it’s replacing other less healthy ways of getting my dopamine. I also must be looking at my phone way less. Have finished one sweater already and onto my second. A very suitable creative outlet for me right now while I’m still recovering from chronic fatigue as I don’t need to leave the couch!

My tiny little business is also growing, and officially opening the doors to my counselling room with my first two in person clients coming this week. Only on zoom until now. Feels like a good next step. Working more means I won’t be able to skip on sleep and feeling a little sad I won’t be able to join your transmission, (or for the foreseeable future… 3am is just too hard 😄) but you’ll see me if my insomnia returns with good timing :P grateful I made the most of our compatible time zones when I did!

Love to you 🫶
